How can I keep birds away from our window air conditioners?

It seems every year when we put in the window A/C units, the birds arrive! They hang around the units and all I hear all day is chirping and little bird feet on metal. I hate birds, they are filthy and I would NEVER have a bird in my home as a pet, oh the thought makes me shudder! I just want them to go away, how can I do it without harming them, I dont like birds but posion or any method which could hurt or kill them is out of the question. Can you help?

2. Most lawn and garden shops will have a plastic or inflatable owl that you can put near the A/C units. That will scare the birds away.
3. Put a few "rubber snakes" on the air conditioner... They should not come there, as birds hate snakes. I wish you well... Jesse
4. super glue, toy snakes, or use one of those owls from home depot , also outside grilles use fishing wire to keep birds away
