How often are ferrets able to be bathed?

I have had many ferrets b/4.I had to put my last ferret to sleep due 2 failing health and she was 12 years old. That's along time for a ferret to live!I have a new baby ferret that is about 3 months old now. They sure make great pets.

  2. About once or twice a week. But you should know already.
  3. yeah but they stink so bad .and they bite .sorry don't think they make good pets.
  4. some ferret love to be bathed and you can bath them about once a week however some male ferrets might urinate over there hutch/bedding (this is usually becuase they can smell females) and bathing them means that they would keep urinating all the time xx hope that help you xxx
  5. They should not be bathed more then once a month and the less you bathe them the better because bathing them strips their coat and skin of natural oils so they produce more oils everytime you bathe them and if done too often (such as every week) it can cause them to overproduce oils making them smellier.
  6. whenever it stinkes. How often are you able to be bathed? If you do not have a ferret shampoo, Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo wokrs great for them. It wont dry their skin out, and its sensitive for thier skin so it doesn't hurt them. I would reccomend giving them a bath about once a week, in luke warm water. FYI-- As a previouse ferret owner, I have found it doesn't matter HOW often you bath them. THEY WILL ALWAYS STINK!!! lol. but they are cute.
  7. Not trying to use the cop out answer "whenever they stink".....that kinda is the answer. I have had many ferrets. I bathe them very rarely. i would never suggest more than once a month. But if you keep the cage clean and wash the bedding (at least once a week) it keeps down on the odor. It amuses me when people say ferrets "stink". Guess what? so does your dog and cat. (I have a ferret, a cat, and 2 dogs.....I cant say that it is always my ferret that stinks the worst!)
