What did you liter train your ferrets with?
I hate the smell of cat liter, so what did everyone use to train their ferrets with? I've read about the pelleted liter and potty pads but has that worked for anyone?

- For litter, I use CareFresh Ultra-White. It's great at absorbing urine odor, but it does track. Others use Yesterday's News. I've never used potty pads: I just use newspaper on top of smooth slate when I let my ferts roam. Others train them to use litterboxes out in the room, but I have a lot of success with my method, so I stick with that. For actual training, don't use treats or anything like that. Just place them in the box and when they go give them a lot of praise (food treats just teach them to fake poo to get food). Hopefully you'll find something that works for you and your ferts. Good luck!
- i use feline pine it's a pellet type of litter and helps with the odor. cat litters that are clay, clumping or the crystal type are not good to use in your litter pans as they can lead to respiratory problems and vet bills. i tried using the ferret litters but my guys refused to use the litter pan. i have tried yesterdays news and had no success with it either so i tried the feline pine and it worked. yes they still miss the pan once in a while but when ya gotta go ya gotta go. when i change the litter pan mine love to play in it till someone uses it. never had any luck with the potty pads either felt as if i was letting them know it was ok to not to use the litter pan. hope this helps and good luck
