- any kind just dont get two males they will fight and dont get a male and female 2gether or they will have babies. just get 2 females or use seperate cages.
- hamsters are really vicious when together. they bite. hiss. sometimes kill. i would buy two seperate cages.
- Russian Dwarf Hamsters can be kept together. You can also try keeping Roborovski hamsters together, although very rarely they will fight and you may need to seperate them. Do not get Syrian or Golden hamsters, as they will fight.
- You won't be able to do that. Once a hamster, any kind and any sex, hits sexual maturity they will each fight to be the alpha hamster. I'm one of the small animal specialists at a pet store, and there have been a few times where the age of a hamster was underestimated and the hamsters have really harmed one another. So you can only put one hamster in a cage once it's hits puberty.
- It depends on the species of hamster..... Syrian hamsters are a solitary species. If you keep more than one they will certainly fight, one will probably kill the other and may even cannibalise it. Do NOT keep more than one syrian in the same cage! (Please be aware that all "normal" sized hamsters are syrians - including goldens, teddies, etc) True dwarf hamsters (Russian dwarfs and robrovskis) can be kept in same sex pairs - but make sure your cage is big enough. Chinese hamsters are not true dwarfs. Some people successfully keep them in pairs - others have found they fight and need to be separated. If you choose chinese get the biggest cage you can, and provide at least two sleeping boxes to reduce the chances of fighting.
- I'd suggest female Russian dwarf hamsters. They may bicker, but it's minor. It's a bit of squeeking and squawking, usually over a treat, or a box/hidey hole, but no bloodshed or death.
- I'm pretty sure that any type of hamsters except Syrians can be housed with more of their own kind. Males might fight a little, though.
- any kind of dwarfs NOT SYRIANS! DONT PUT SYRIANS TOGETHER, THEY WILL KILL EACH OTHER! And with the dwarfs, get two that are from the same cage. They love playing with eachother and having fun like that. Have fun with your hamsters! :-) ~♥alex♥~
- It depends on the breed. All hamsters can live together but only in rare cases some breeds will get along. Any breed of dwarf hamster will get along well. The only problem with them is that they tend to be unfriendly to people and many are very mean. If you handle them before you get them and know they are friendly, then they should be fine. Syrian and Golden ahmsters are my personal favorite but they usually do better alone. If you get two, they MUST be related and even then they most likely will fight and kill each other. The larger hamsters are much friendlier and alert. They also are much calmer and they live longer.
- dwarf hamsters can live together but by the two that are in the same cage or fish tank together that way they already know each other and will not fight. get two of the same sex never put two regular hamsters together they are solitary animals and will fight once they are about 5 weeks old. dwarf hamsters are the size of a mouse and are hard to hand tame so spend about a hour every day with them so they get to know you. give them the first few days alone so they can get used to there new home. good luck Denise
- You should get dwarf hamsters. DO NOT GET MALES! They may fight. Do not get a syrian hamster they hate to live with each other.
- Most all hamsters prefer to be alone. Occasionally you can get rare instances where 2 will live together just fine (usually littermates) but as a general rule, hamsters don't like roommates.
- As long as you get them from the same cage, they will be fine. Just try to get two females, they seem to get along better and they don't smell too bad. Teddy-bear hamsters are the cutest, and the friendliest with humans. They are also somewhat larger. I'm not sure about housing together, but as long as they were from the same cage, I'm sure they'll be okay.
- Well, if u do get 2 hamster, then don't get two male hamsters because i had 2 males and the constantly fought with one another. also one of my hamsters bit the other hamsters guts outs. it was gross.
- when i got my teddy bear hamster i asked the same question the shop keeper told me that it might be ok if they were brothers (they only had males) in a big cage.my advice would be to ask the owner and see what they have to say
