What should bird breeders do with their birds when they get too old to breed?

These birds are not tame and will not be able to be handled. Would people want them just to look at?

  1. They might; and then again, some of them might be tamable. I have an aviary for birds I want to look at rather than handle.
  2. know a breeder that had a ringneck that was to old to breed and a lady that came to get a different bird fell in love with it and said he didn't care if it was mean just wanted it in her avery to look at and listen to it sing.
  3. Yes, many people just want the company of the bird and are not intersted in hugging and kissing it, like some of us do. There certainly is a place for retired breeders. What kind of birds are they?
  4. You can give them to friends who just want to look at them. They can keep them either in a large cage indoors or an outdoor aviary. You can also consider giving them to a local zoo or bird park - where people come only to look at various species. Another thought is to give them away to old age homes. orphanages, schools, sanitoriums, even local jails, where they can help give some joy to the residents. The few species which can be tamed at this late stage in their lives, can be given away as 'individual' pets to loving homes. Hope this helps.
  5. they keep them in an avery or donate them to a zoo or wild life park,,
